Board of Assessors

The Ware County Board of Assessors (BOA) is a five-member board appointed by the County Commissioners. We manage the information for some twenty-five thousand parcels of real property and five thousand personal property accounts in Ware County. We are responsible for ensuring the fair market value of all property in Ware County. Fair market value is defined as the amount a knowledgeable buyer would pay for a property and a knowledgeable seller would accept for a property in an "arm's-length" sale.

Chief Appraiser

The board of tax assessors in each county shall designate an Appraiser IV or, in those counties not having an Appraiser IV, an Appraiser III as the chief appraiser of the county. The chief appraiser shall be responsible for: (1) The operation and functioning of the county property appraisal staff; (2) Certifying and signing documents prepared by the staff; and (3) Implementing procedures deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the staff.

Assistant Chief Appraiser

Supervises the preparation of the land, residential, commercial, and industrial portions of the property digest. Assists with the development and implementation of schedules and procedures for the valuation for real and personal property. Trains and supervises the work of personnel involved in the valuation of real and personal property. Compiles and analyzes monthly sales ratio studies. Defends appraised values, schedules and methods before the Board of Equalization. Performs the duties of the Chief Appraiser in his/her absence.
